CPJ to grace promotional materials for guests of Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar Gala
The esteemed global media mogul Condé Nast and the esteemed international advocacy entity Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) declared a novel alliance on Thursday to champion journalistic autonomy and security.
Within this collaborative endeavor, Condé Nast pledges its support in raising awareness and resources for CPJ, leveraging its manifold platforms and assets. This includes furnishing creative and promotional backing in observance of World Press Freedom Day, a poignant occasion marked annually on May 3 to underscore journalists’ indispensable role in holding authority accountable.
Roger Lynch, CEO of Condé Nast, articulated, “It is indisputable that the realm of journalism faces manifold challenges globally—ranging from the vicissitudes in our operational frameworks to the imperatives of press freedom and safety.” He continued, “The Committee to Protect Journalists stands as a bastion of vital import on numerous fronts, particularly in tumultuous epochs such as those of warfare and conflict, where they valiantly champion the prerogatives of journalists to disseminate news without jeopardy or intimidation. Condé Nast has, since time immemorial, stood as an ardent supporter of CPJ, and I am elated by the prospect of our deepened collaboration.”
To inaugurate this partnership, CPJ is slated for inclusion in the paraphernalia distributed among attendees of the esteemed Vanity Fair Oscar Gala. This perennial revelry follows the prestigious awards ceremony commemorating its thirtieth iteration. Moreover, CPJ’s presence is assured in other gatherings hosted by Condé Nast annually. Condé Nast will further assert a prominent presence at CPJ’s annual gala for the International Press Freedom Award, scheduled for November.
Jodie Ginsberg, CEO of CPJ, remarked, “Condé Nast epitomizes a globally acclaimed publisher, endowed with a storied legacy spanning over a century, characterized by the production of impactful journalism. From Vogue’s chronicles of World War II through the lens of the revered photographer Lee Miller, to Vanity Fair’s exposé on the tobacco industry during the 1990s, to The New Yorker’s Emmy-award-winning virtual reality documentary exploring China’s ‘re-education camps,’ the resonant narratives they weave epitomize the essence of journalism. I am enthralled by the prospect of this partnership during what constitutes a seminal epoch for journalists and journalism alike.”
