Daniel Arsham: An exclusive exhibition featuring the photographic works of esteemed artist Daniel Arsham will premiere at Fotografiska New York on March 22, 2024. Arsham began refining his photographic abilities at the juvenile age of eleven. He is renowned for his incredible creations and partnerships with legendary brands like as Tiffany & Co. and Hot Wheels. This visual medium has greatly impacted his creative path, expanding his toolkit as a designer and sculptor.
The monochrome palette that Arsham favors in his photography gives his body of work a unified and alluring look. Joining the artist on his travels and interactions, which frequently combine urban settings with nature surroundings, is like going on a visual trip via his lens. He deftly emphasizes ideas of light, time, and negative space in his depictions of cityscapes and nighttime views. Viewers of the show will get a thorough understanding of the mutually supportive nature of Arsham’s photography and his larger creative process by seeing rare photographic treasures displayed alongside his world-famous sculptures.
Artist Daniel Arsham (born 1980) of New York City explores a wide range of mediums, including but not limited to fine art, architecture, performance, design, and cinema. Though he was born and raised in Miami, Arsham received the esteemed Gelman Trust Fellowship Award in 2003 while he was a student at New York City’s Cooper Union.
After that, Arsham went on a world tour as the stage designer for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. This partnership set the stage for long-lasting collaborations with creative heavyweights from all walks of life, including musicians, artists, designers, and even prominent brands like Dior and Porsche.
The spirit of fictional archaeology is fundamental to Arsham’s creative practice, and it is reflected in his distinctive uchronic style. In a variety of forms, he creates and preserves mysterious, borderline situations, offering what he calls “future relics of the present.” Many of his most recognizable works capture the spirit of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, when technology was becoming obsolete at a dizzying rate and the world was becoming increasingly digital. Poetically navigating the past, present, and future, Arsham’s work delves into the worlds of pop art and romanticism while delving into the universality and enduring symbolism of cultural gestures.
Arsham Editions and Archive Editions are subsets of Arsham Studio that produce limited edition artworks for an international audience; in recent years, Arsham has explored the overlap between fine art and business through these ventures.
In 2021, Arsham made history when she became the first fine artist to ever occupy the esteemed job of creative director for a major sports franchise—the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Among the many prestigious locations that have hosted Arsham’s works during his career are the New York City PS1, Miami’s Museum of Contemporary Art, and Greece’s Athens Bienniale. Galerie Perrotin, Baró Galeria, Ron Mandos, Nanzuka Gallery, Friedman Benda, and König Galerie are among the prominent art galleries that represent him, highlighting his renown as an internationally renowned artist.y.
