A new ranking by Time Out in partnership with Intrepid Travel has revealed the best cities in Asia for 2026. The list is based on a large global survey involving over 24,000 people, along with insights from more than 100 Time Out city experts who shared their views on what makes these destination

From buzzing street food scenes to vibrant cultural neighbourhoods, here are the 11 best cities in Asia to explore in 2026.

Shanghai tops the list thanks to its lively culture, modern skyline and surprisingly affordable lifestyle. Locals surveyed by Time Out said the city scored the highest for affordability, with 88% saying dining out is reasonably priced. Around 90% also said coffee and cinema outings are affordable, while 78% highlighted the city’s cycling-friendly streets, making it easy to explore neighbourhoods on two wheels.
