Talking to the highly cautious and meticulous Brittany O’Grady is a welcome surprise if all you have in mind about her is her role as an ultra-blasé Gen Z college student in the first season of The White Lotus. “I prefer to arrive rather early. Regarding her airport routine, O’Grady says, “I’ll have [our ride] planned the night before, and we’ll just sit there, maybe have breakfast, until it’s time to get on the plane.” As she revealed to Condé Nast Traveler, she also loves using Google Docs to plan her trips. “My main advice when it comes to traveling is organization.”

Currently airing on Prime Video, O’Grady’s most recent role is that of an office-savvy resident who works with Christoph Waltz in the eerie new series The Consultant. She spoke with reporters before the program about her recent honeymoon, things to do in her hometown, and how she manages her nervousness when she travels regularly with Lady, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Her most enjoyable trip to date:

September was my honeymoon, and it was a fantastic trip. After a stopover in Paris, we traveled to Greece, just like any other couple on their honeymoon in 2022. We were extremely, very original, but we had never gone anywhere else. We were taken aback when our stopover in Paris was extended to three days. There, we made many wonderful friends and experienced warmth we hadn’t anticipated. Then, we visited two gorgeous Greek islands: Santorini and Paros. Our hosts on Airbnb were terrific, and the cuisine was excellent. It wasn’t exactly a glamorous honeymoon. Immersion in the space was reminiscent of all the college vacations we took.

Her favorite airline outfit:

I am at ease. I like to dress in layers, so I’ll put on a sweater after a lightweight long-sleeved shirt or tank top. To avoid adding extra weight to my purse, I wear my heaviest shoes, sneakers, or Uggs, which are pretty comfy.

Her advice about taking a dog on a trip is:

Lady, my dog, loves to travel. She travels with us seventy percent of the time. However, it is pretty stressful! When it comes to the airport, there are many things beyond our control. For dogs, such [designated] restroom facilities are filthy and full of germs. We also try to ensure she gets exercise before we travel by running her around because she occasionally gets a bit queasy after flying—I believe it affects her stomach. She is well-hydrated during the journey thanks to the doggie water bottle we carry. We’ll have tiny snacks to keep her busy, and since she’s on the smaller side, I’ve never placed her beneath [in the hold]. I’m unsure if I should mention this; however, if it’s only my spouse and me in the row, I open the crate slightly for her. I’ll just be somewhat open.

Additionally, we can do the most straightforward thing using Delta: we can memorize the measurements of the Delta assistant’s container by texting her. Dogs usually fit better in the center aisle. All I can do is confirm that she is aboard the aircraft. There are no problems because her reservation is paid a week in advance. That’s my brain, too!

How she arranges her itinerary:

My spouse and I began dating in college and have been traveling together for the last ten years. Creating an itinerary in Google Docs is something I adore doing. I find it incredibly enjoyable. I’m going to start looking at blogs and YouTube channels. YouTube provides you with people’s raw opinions. Although I don’t have a TikTok, I’ll check Instagram to see where folks are. After that, I start making plans: reserve excursions, look for lodging, or investigate less-visited locations. My preference is usually Airbnb. That’s enjoyable since it gives my spouse and me the impression that we live there.

Her earliest recollection of traveling in first or business class was:

My sister and I were mysteriously upgraded as a kid since my dad traveled for work. The fact that there were just a few sad males dressed in suits initially made me think, “This is boring.” It was like being at an office; I couldn’t feel like a child. Furthermore, I recall the seats being so large that my feet were off the floor.

It was my first adult experience, and it was awesome since you received free food and beverages! Usually, my co-stars and I get to spend time together, talking and watching movies on airplanes. In first class, the flight attendants are consistently very kind.

Something she feels is underappreciated:

New Mexico has a lot of breathtaking locations. It’s enchanted. When I was eighteen, I spent a few months living in Albuquerque while working on a production. Afterward, my spouse and I took a camper trailer journey across the nation, stopping in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. There’s an energy that you can feel as you ride that gondola up to the mountains.

She suggests the following to tourists who are in her hometown of Washington, D.C.:

How I miss home, oh my god. I adore the Washington, D.C., region dearly. The cuisine is incredibly excellent because there are so many different ethnicities. Try the authentic cuisines of other countries at the various Arlington and Fairfax-Falls Church eateries. I’ll be laughed at for suggesting that the metro is enjoyable, but it’s handy! Public transit is a highly effective approach to engage with a city fully. It’s also tidy. What a tidy city Washington, D.C., is! Cherry blossoms are a common yet stunning sight. Of course, museums are fantastic. You may discover a great deal. However, the cuisine is the main attraction.

My buddy Alexa Moore, who lives in the DMV [D.C., Maryland, Virginia] region, is a travel blogger. In addition to seeing all these other locations, she has traveled to over 50 nations and offers advice on the D.C. region. She offers financial advice. She is my first choice. We were childhood dance partners, and she’s witty, talented, and all-around fabulous.

The next destination she hopes to visit is:

Although I’ve traveled to Central America, I prefer to visit South America. Additionally, I’d want to have a chill vacation in the Nordic region. The Ivory Coast and Ghana are two places in Africa that I wish to visit. That’s what I want to do in 10 years!
