LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE reported a sharper-than-expected decline in sales at its fashion and leather goods division in the third quarter of 2026, as weakening economic conditions and consumer backlash in China weighed on demand for key brands, including Louis Vuitton.
Revenue at the luxury group’s largest business unit fell 5% on an organic basis compared with the same period last year, according to results released on Monday, October 12. The decline was steeper than analysts had anticipated, while the group’s overall sales also came in below market expectations.

The results highlight continued challenges for the global luxury industry, particularly in China, where economic uncertainty and changing consumer sentiment have affected spending on high-end fashion and leather goods.

As one of LVMH’s most important divisions, fashion and leather goods plays a central role in the group’s overall performance. The latest figures suggest that weaker demand in a key luxury market continues to put pressure on the business, despite the global appeal of its leading brands.
