Indiana’s manufacturing facility celebrates a significant achievement today with the commencement of production of the inaugural Lexus TX, a novel, three-row deluxe SUV. This 2024 TX marks the debut of a Lexus SUV assembled in the United States, marking a milestone for Toyota Indiana.

In 2021, Toyota unveiled an investment of $803 million in Indiana to fabricate two new SUV models, solidifying the automaker’s dedication to American manufacturing and to the over 8,000-strong workforce at Toyota Indiana. Progressing to 2023, Toyota Indiana introduced the Grand Highlander and is thrilled to present the Lexus TX.

Meticulous attention is directed towards every facet, with the Lexus TX undergoing additional quality assessments in the Lexus Differential Process.

“When Toyota Indiana was designated to assemble two brand-new vehicles, we were elated,” expressed Leah Curry, President of Toyota Indiana. “The designation as a Lexus plant bestows honor and prestige upon the tireless efforts of our team, recognizing their unwavering commitment and expertise.”

Prioritizing comfort and tailored for North American drivers, the TX embodies the quintessence of all Lexus vehicles. Resilient, refined, and advancing the brand’s electrification pledge, the 2024 TX ensures ample room and seating without compromising on pioneering technology, sophisticated performance, and plentiful amenities expected by clientele.

Introducing Lexus to Indiana necessitated the manufacturer’s readying of its facilities, workforce, and procedures for the luxury brand. This entailed years of scrutinizing and enhancing each operation within the plant, acquainting with novel Lexus-specific procedures, and elevating standards.

“At Toyota Indiana, we adhere to an unyielding standard of excellence,” remarked Vice President of Manufacturing Tim Hollander. “This is precisely why Lexus entrusted us. Incorporating the Lexus TX into our already exclusive production roster has only elevated our endeavors.”

“Indiana leads the charge in pioneering and manufacturing the future of mobility, thanks to collaborations with world-renowned companies like Toyota Indiana,” declared Governor Eric J. Holcomb. “Toyota’s expansion of its production in Princeton with the introduction of the new Grand Highlander and Lexus TX is generating high-quality career opportunities for our Hoosier residents, while fostering transformative economic and communal development across southwest Indiana.”

In commemorating this landmark occasion, Toyota Indiana pledges $300,000 to the Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville’s Play-it Forward initiative. These funds will facilitate the creation of an innovative mobile museum, extending equitable access to children throughout the region fostering imagination and exploration through play. With a focus on interactive STEAM activities, the mobile museum will extend valuable content and enjoyment beyond traditional museum confines.
