Loewe marks 180 years with a magazine takeover in Singapore

One of the oldest luxury fashion houses in the world, Loewe is marking its 180th anniversary this year with a celebration that feels true to the house’s spirit: thoughtful, craft-led, and quietly elegant. Rather than looking back with nostalgia alone, the House uses this moment to reaffirm the values that have shaped it since 1849 — a deep respect for material, a devotion to the hand, and a distinctly playful approach to design.

Founded in Madrid in 1849, Loewe has spent nearly two centuries evolving without losing sight of what makes it special. The balance between preservation and reinvention has long been part of its appeal, particularly in the way it treats leather not simply as a material, but as a language of its own.

For its 180th anniversary, the House shows this sensibility through a campaign featuring some of Loewe’s most recognisable bags from across the decade, including the Flamenco clutch (first launched in the 1980s), the Puzzle (launched in 2015), and the new Amazona 180. The latter was first introduced in 1975 and reimagined by creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for this debut collection.

There is also a film narrated by Antonio Banderas, which traces key moments in the House’s history, from the unification of the artisan collective under Enrique Loewe Rosenberg in 1872 to the founding of the Loewe Foundation in 1988.

 

A special publication, 180 Years of Craftwill also be released as part of Issue 11 of Loewe Magazine, promising archive material, a look inside the Madrid atelier, and more.

In Singapore, Loewe’s 180th anniversary is celebrated through a magazine takeover, in partnership with independent bookstore Basheer Graphic Books and the Listening Room at Appetite. Visit these spaces and discover the dedicated Loewe magazine displays and redeem a complimentary copy of the Loewe 180 Years of Craft supplement via QR code.

The takeover will run at Basheer Graphic Books from June 15, and the Listening Room at Appetite from June 19, giving visitors a chance to encounter the Loewe world.
