Valencia, Spain – 23 October 2023 – Following a monumental transition for the Trident in 2023, Maserati MSG Racing proudly continues its venture in the FIA Formula E World Championship by introducing its Season 10 contender, the Maserati Tipo Folgore.
Unveiled on the brink of pre-season assessments at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain, the Maserati Tipo Folgore retains the proven, victorious technology from Season 9, coupled with a fresh aesthetic. It epitomizes the distinguished heritage of the Maserati brand in motorsport and its ongoing innovative journey into electrification.
The Maserati Tipo Folgore—denoting Maserati’s all-electric lineup—serves as a seamless link between past and future, intent on representing the marque in the new era of motorsport. This decision is perfectly aligned with Maserati’s strategic objectives and its inclination towards innovation.
The novel Maserati Tipo Folgore showcases the Rame Folgore (Copper Glance) accents at the rear, reminiscent of the characteristic hue of Maserati’s forthcoming generation of electric vehicles, slated to embody the entire product lineup by 2030.
The ninth season of Formula E marked the triumphant return of the Italian marque to World Championship single-seater competition, as the Trident graced the grid for the first time since its last appearance in Formula One 66 years ago.
The campaign witnessed numerous breakthrough performances, including two instances of securing pole position, four podium finishes, and a historic triumph in Jakarta. This monumental achievement signified Maserati’s inaugural single-seater race victory since the 1957 German Grand Prix.
Adorned with an iconic azure tint synonymous with Maserati, the Maserati MSG Racing Tipo Folgore’s Season 10 livery declares intent. At the same time, incorporating contemporary copper embellishments alludes to the shade of Folgore—the hue of the future.
Employing Formula E’s revolutionary Gen3 package – the swiftest and most energy-efficient vehicle to grace the World Championship thus far – the car epitomizes the pinnacle of electric vehicle performance.
Boasting a power output of 350kW, the car attains a maximum velocity exceeding 200mph, while its 600kW regenerative braking capacity ensures that 40% of all energy utilized during races is derived from regeneration.
Through the advancement of race-to-road technologies, Formula E and Maserati MSG Racing are poised to play a pivotal role in Maserati’s journey towards electrification, as innovations on the racetrack are seamlessly integrated into its automotive lineup.
Comprising 17 rounds, including a novel race in Tokyo, Japan, Formula E’s 10th season is slated to be its most expansive. It is scheduled to kick off on January 13, 2024, in Mexico City, following the culmination of pre-season trials.
