Sagamore Spirit is pleased to present the third iteration of their coveted Port Finish Rye Whiskey, which has been dramatically awaited since its release in 2016. The 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition awarded the initial release of the esteemed title “World’s Best Rye Whiskey.” Due to its popularity, the distillery released a second version just the year before.
Sagamore Spirit’s longest-aged Port Finish to date is the 2023 release. The straight rye whiskey is first aged for six years in freshly charred American oak barrels. Later, it is aged for three more years in Port barrels purchased from the renowned Boordy Vineyards in Maryland. The result is a full-bodied whiskey with notes of rich caramel, dark chocolate, and oaky vanilla mingled with tastes of juicy raspberries, cherries, and plums. The whole thing comes together in a lengthy, gratifyingly spicy aftertaste.
Vice President of Operations at Sagamore Spirit Ryan Norwood is thrilled to return Port Finish Rye Whiskey to nationwide consumers. He draws attention to the detailed maturing procedure in Port barrels, producing an incredibly remarkable experience with jammy fruit flavors and rich baking spice. It’s the perfect rye whiskey for the season, according to Norwood.
The Port Finish Rye Whiskey, the newest offering in the Reserve Series, is a perfect example of Sagamore Spirit’s constant commitment to quality. Similar to the distillery’s more extensive selection of Maryland rye whiskey, this release is robust, rich, well-balanced, and adaptable.
At a robust 103 proof, this unique rye whiskey may now be purchased for $99.99 at the Baltimore distillery of Sagamore Spirit and a few select retailers nationwide.
