Spring is nearly here, and with the season comes a spate of important hotel openings: the Tokyo flagship of a new brand from Aman Resorts; a renovated historic hotel on New York City’s Upper East Side; and a castaway-style luxury escape in the Maldives that puts both sustainability and well-being front and center.
The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel
Corinthia Hotels, renowned for their transformation of historic buildings into luxury accommodations, are set to open their flagship U.S. location in mid-2024. The hotel is located in a 1926 Upper East Side residence that once hosted celebrities like JFK and Bette Davis. Expect 100 guest rooms and suites, along with 14 residences adorned in richly textured fabrics in calming shades of green, blue, and gold. The Miami-based hospitality company Casa Tua will be in charge of the Italian restaurant, lounge, and private members club.
The Regent Santa Monica
Having undergone impressive renovations in locations like Cannes and Hong Kong, the luxury hotel brand Regent is making its way stateside to Santa Monica, California. Embracing a laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere, the hotel will feature guest rooms with beach-inspired wainscoting juxtaposed with sleek gray headboards and ceramic lamps. Butler service will be available for guests enjoying the beachfront pool deck.
Emory Hotel London
London’s esteemed Maybourne Hotel Group is adding a new gem to its collection with the Emory Hotel, the group’s first London opening in 50 years. Set to open in April 2024, this 61-room all-suite hotel will exude a residential charm. Each floor will showcase the work of a different interior designer, including names like Alexandra Champalimaud and Patricia Urquiola. The rooftop bar, offering 360-degree city views, will be exclusively for guests, while a subterranean wellness center will feature a 22-meter pool.
Mandarin Oriental Mayfair
Launching later this spring, the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will grace London’s landscape with its modern red brick facade designed by the renowned Richard Rogers. The guest rooms, inspired by haute couture, will feature hand-painted silk wallpaper and carpets adorned with floral motifs. Culinary delights await at chef Akira Back’s eponymous restaurant, while the spa offers an indulgent 25-meter indoor pool.
Royal Mansour Casablanca
Casablanca is set to shine brighter on the travel map with the arrival of the Royal Mansour Casablanca, sister property to the iconic Royal Mansour in Marrakech. Following a five-year restoration of a 1952 art deco landmark, this luxury hotel promises to elevate the city’s hospitality scene.
Singita Milele
Situated within Tanzania’s private Grumeti Reserve, Singita Milele offers guests exclusive access to 350,000 acres of Serengeti landscape. This new villa, opening in May 2024, boasts ample outdoor living spaces, an infinity pool, and suites named after charismatic megafauna. Karangoma
Nestled in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Karangoma invites guests to immerse themselves in the region’s cultural traditions while supporting local communities. Opening in May 2024, this six-tent lodge offers wildlife experiences and insights into the traditions of the Bukakhwe San and Hambukushu people.
Janu Tokyo
Janu Tokyo, the flagship of a new luxury hotel brand, promises a social and playful atmosphere in contrast to the secluded ambiance of its sister brand, Aman Resorts. With sleek and minimalistic rooms designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, along with a sprawling wellness center, Janu Tokyo opens its doors in March 2024.
Soneva Secret
