The newly relaunched five-star Montcalm Mayfair feels like an insider secret thanks to its discreet location on a quiet cul-de-sac just moments from London’s busy Oxford Street. Close to the city’s main shopping and cultural attractions, the hotel nevertheless offers a peaceful retreat away from the crowds.
The Montcalm Mayfair is one of four luxury properties within the Montcalm Collection, an independent London hotel group known for blending historic character with contemporary design. Each hotel in the collection has its own distinct identity, with many housed in heritage buildings such as Georgian townhouses or a converted brewery.

Occupying four adjoining Georgian townhouses, the Montcalm Mayfair has undergone a major two-year renovation completed last year. The historic façades and architectural details have been carefully restored, with architects Holland and Harvey and interior teams Studio Est and Studio Mica leading the redesign. The design concept draws inspiration from five historic figures: Elizabeth Montagu, a prominent intellectual who helped establish the Blue Stockings Society; George Bridgetower, an accomplished British violinist of Afro-European heritage; Dame Nellie Melba, the internationally celebrated Australian opera singer; the Marquis of Montcalm, whose legacy is reflected in the hotel’s name; and Constance Spry, a pioneering floral designer. Each figure has inspired bespoke artworks, storytelling elements, and personalised details throughout the hotel.
Accommodation

The property has 150 guest rooms, each reflecting the hotel’s botanical theme and historic character, blending natural influences with classic design cues. Luxury details include plush Frette linens, bath products by British perfumery Penhaligon, and specially commissioned artwork. A thoughtful touch in each room is a “sleep poem” placed beside the bed, written by Creative Writing MFA students from Goldsmiths and illustrated by Petra Börner.
For a more indulgent stay, the hotel offers three signature suites. The Botanical Suite features a private entrance on Upper Berkeley Street, while the Parlour Suite and Drawing Room Suite offer two-bedroom layouts. Each suite is individually designed with bespoke, handcrafted furnishings and generous living spaces. The hotel is also pet-friendly, providing special amenities and cosy beds for animal companions.
Eat and Drink

Lilli by Akira Back is a standout dining destination at the hotel. Led by acclaimed Korean-American chef Akira Back, the restaurant highlights fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, blending British cuisine with Korean-Japanese influences. Menu highlights include tuna tartare, tuna pizza with white truffle oil, wagyu beef short rib, and miso black cod.
The restaurant’s design features velvet upholstery, natural wood, and textiles in a palette of soft greens, warm neutrals, and earthy tones. A botanical-inspired afternoon tea is also offered, featuring delicate finger sandwiches, pastries, and teas presented with a natural theme. Afternoon tea is open to both hotel guests and visitors.
The bar at Montcalm Mayfair continues the botanical theme, with a hand-painted ceiling that evokes a lush garden atmosphere. The cocktail menu focuses on seasonal botanicals and includes inventive alcohol-free options. Signature drinks include the English Garden Martini and a Smoked Negroni Twist.
Spa and Wellness

The Yātrā Signature Spa, named after the Sanskrit word for “journey,” is a serene wellness space located beneath the hotel. Combining ancient Ayurvedic practices with contemporary holistic therapies and global wellness traditions, the spa focuses on balance and deep relaxation.
Facilities include a plunge pool, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, infrared and traditional saunas, and experience showers. Guests also have access to a fully equipped fitness studio with Technogym equipment and dedicated yoga areas.
What to Do Nearby
In addition to the nearby shops of Oxford, Bond, and Regent Streets, the Wallace Collection is just a short walk from the hotel. Housed in the former home of the Seymour family, Marquesses of Hertford, the museum features an extensive collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture, arms and armour, and porcelain. Highlights include works by Titian, Velázquez, Rubens, Canaletto, and Fragonard’s The Swing. A temporary exhibition of Caravaggio’s Victorious Cupid, on loan from a German museum and never previously shown in the UK, is on display until 12 April 2026.
