India is set to become the largest market for Trump Towers outside of the United States, with a rapid expansion of luxury real estate projects under the Trump brand. Currently, there are four Trump Tower residential projects in Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon, and Kolkata, and the number is expected to reach ten in the next six years. New developments will include high-end offices, golf courses, and villas in cities such as Noida, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and additional projects in Mumbai, Gurgaon, and Pune.
Kalpesh Mehta, founder of Tribeca Developers and Trump’s real estate partner in India, is optimistic about the brand’s growth, particularly following Donald Trump’s recent election win. Mehta, who studied at Wharton alongside Trump family members, recalls meeting Donald Trump Jr. in New York over a decade ago, where the two discussed preliminary plans that eventually materialized into a successful partnership. According to Mehta, Trump advised focusing on quality over quantity, emphasizing that any project under the Trump brand should be “best in class.”
Trump first visited India in 2014 for the launch of Trump Tower Mumbai, shortly after PM Narendra Modi took office. Since then, Trump has expressed admiration for Modi and India’s growth potential, with his support further bolstered by Modi’s leadership. This favorable view has positioned India as the top location for Trump properties outside the US.
The Trump Organization’s real estate model in India operates similarly to a management contract in the hotel industry: Tribeca Developers invests in the physical construction, while the Trump Organization brings its branding, service standards, and global reach. The existing Trump Towers in India cover a total area of 30 lakh square feet, housing approximately 800 luxury residences valued between Rs 6-25 crore, with an estimated total sales value of Rs 7,500 crore. The upcoming six developments will cover an area of 80 lakh square feet, with a projected sales value of Rs 15,000 crore.
Apart from residential towers, future developments include a Trump-branded golf course and villas, aimed at expanding the brand’s footprint in the Indian luxury real estate market. Mehta believes Trump’s presidency and strong ties with Modi will positively impact the India-US relationship, creating potential economic benefits. He further emphasized that Trump remains a unique luxury real estate brand globally, recognized for its exclusivity and high standards.
