Nicola Coughlan, who portrays Penelope Featherington on Bridgerton, is giving us a small taste of the Regency era we’ve all been sorely missing as we wait for the third season of Bridgerton (Netflix, please make haste!).
The actress, dressed in a custom Christopher Kane latex gown with long sleeves and a plunging sweetheart neckline accentuated by an unexpected sheer tulle overlay that more strongly channeled the opulent gowns of Bridgerton than The Matrix, as the rest of her dress did, attended the Newport Beach Film Festival UK Honors in London on Thursday (not to be confused with the Cali location).
She accessorized with a similar ring and diamond hoop earrings and wore a shimmering floor-length gown with platform heels. Her glam comprised a brown smokey eye and a peach lip, and her long blonde hair was tucked behind her shoulders and split down the center.
In addition, Coughlan posted a photo of the ensemble on her Instagram, referring to the dress as a “latex masterpiece.”
No spoilers, but Penelope has already had a significant impact on the show thus far. This season, however, will allow us to see the development of her love story. Although there has yet to be a word on when the show will return, Coughlan is working on a few other projects. The actress has two upcoming films to release: Seize Them! and the much-awaited Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
