A Radiant Affair: Tiffany & Co. Brings High Jewelry Magic to Koh Samui

By Jessica Pena

Luxury and artistry at center stage

Luxury and artistry took center stage on the serene shores of Koh Samui as Tiffany & Co. unveiled an extraordinary high jewelry showcase—one that paid homage to the timeless brilliance of Jean Schlumberger, one of the 20th century’s most iconic jewelry designers. Set against the lush tropical backdrop of the Four Seasons Resort, this unforgettable event brought together more than 260 dazzling creations, each one a testament to Tiffany’s legacy of innovation, craftsmanship, and design.

At the heart of the showcase was the awe-inspiring Bird on a Pearl capsule collection. A poetic reinterpretation of Schlumberger’s famous avian design, this new line features natural saltwater pearls—exceedingly rare treasures sourced from Hussein Al Fardan, a renowned Gulf-region collector who owns one of the world’s largest private collections. This marked the third time Al Fardan opened his coveted vaults exclusively for Tiffany & Co., and the results were breathtaking.

For the first time ever in Thailand, guests had the opportunity to witness the bird—an enduring Schlumberger motif—perched not on traditional gemstones but on luminous pearls, adding a fresh elegance to an already legendary design. These exquisite pieces appeared not only as brooches but as necklaces, earrings, rings, and pendants, capturing the ethereal beauty of nature and craftsmanship fused into wearable art.

The collection’s narrative was deeply rooted in Schlumberger’s legacy—his love for the natural world and his design inspirations drawn from Southeast Asia, especially Bali, India, and Thailand. It was in these lands, rich in culture and biodiversity, that the visionary designer found endless muses. Koh Samui, with its verdant landscapes and sweeping ocean views, proved to be the perfect setting to reintroduce these designs to a new audience of collectors, tastemakers, and admirers.

The event also marked a significant moment for Tiffany & Co. in Thailand: it was the brand’s largest high jewelry exhibition ever hosted in the country. It offered a rare, intimate look at Schlumberger’s masterpieces alongside Tiffany’s other iconic pieces—each unified by their radiant gemstones, meticulous craftsmanship, and extraordinary imagination.

Among the highlights was the Bird on a Rock bracelet, which featured a striking Fancy Intense Yellow diamond set in platinum and 18-karat yellow gold, surrounded by white diamonds and pink sapphires. These pieces shimmered not only with rare stones but with stories—of artistry, exploration, and legacy.

Adding to the glamour of the occasion was the presence of Taksaorn “Aff” Paksukcharern, recently appointed as Tiffany & Co.’s ambassador for Thailand. Her elegant presence lent a graceful modernity to the event, echoing the timeless-meets-contemporary ethos of the collection.

Creative Director Nathalie Verdeille’s vision was clear throughout: to honor Schlumberger’s iconic aesthetic while breathing new life into his most cherished symbols. From the sea and sky to florals, ribbons, and beyond, each piece carried movement and vibrancy, staying true to Schlumberger’s roots in textiles and nature alike.

The Koh Samui showcase was more than a jewelry event—it was a celebration of Tiffany & Co.’s enduring commitment to beauty, craftsmanship, and storytelling. It reminded us that jewelry, at its best, does more than adorn—it transforms, transcends, and connects us to the world around us.
