In a powerful move that cements its place at the pinnacle of fine jewelry, Bulgari has officially opened the doors to the world’s largest luxury jewelry manufacture. Tucked into the picturesque countryside of Valenza, Italy, the expansion not only more than doubles the size of the original facility—growing it to an impressive 355,209 square feet—but also marks a bold investment in Italian craftsmanship, sustainability, and the future of fine jewelry.
This milestone isn’t just about size. It’s a visionary step forward for the Roman house, which continues to prove that luxury is built on heritage, innovation, and a deep respect for artisanal excellence. The expanded facility—dedicated exclusively to Bulgari’s dazzling portfolio, from everyday icons to exquisite high jewelry—reflects the brand’s unwavering commitment to keeping its creations proudly Made in Italy.
At a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, Bulgari CEO Jean Christophe Babin called the launch “a historic success not only for Bulgari but for jewelry as a whole.” And rightly so. The space will be home to the making of beloved pieces like the Serpenti Viper bracelet and Diva’s Dream necklace, as well as more technically intricate creations like Serpenti high-jewelry watches.
But Bulgari’s vision goes well beyond increased production. The new manufacture represents a forward-thinking hub where tradition and innovation meet. With the integration of more in-house craftsmanship and the development of novel techniques, Bulgari is preparing for a future where artistry, precision, and Italian savoir-faire remain at the forefront.
An integral part of this vision is the on-site jewelry school, a first-of-its-kind initiative housed within the manufacture. Created in collaboration with the prestigious TADS jewelry school from Naples, the program welcomes aspiring artisans to train in the heart of the craft. With diplomas recognized by the Italian government, graduates will either join Bulgari’s growing team or carry the maison’s legacy into the wider world of jewelry-making.
And grow they will. Bulgari plans to create a total of 1,600 jobs by 2029, hiring 500 new artisans over the next few years. Since opening the original Valenza facility in 2017, the team has already grown from 370 to 1,100 skilled professionals—a testament to the brand’s dedication to nurturing talent and safeguarding heritage.
The new manufacture also embodies Bulgari’s commitment to sustainability. Nestled within its bucolic surroundings, the structure is powered by geothermal energy and over 4,100 solar panels, supplying up to 50% of its energy needs. The remainder comes from renewable sources. With a plastic-free policy and even an on-site bee farm producing Bulgari honey, the facility serves as a model for responsible luxury.
For those who work within these walls, the manufacture is more than a workplace—it’s a beacon of possibility. One artisan, Amanda, who joined Bulgari in 2022 from China, spoke movingly at the launch event. “I think it’s destiny,” she said, describing her love for the delicate balance of craftsmanship and technicality that defines Bulgari’s aesthetic. “Having this opportunity to experience a continuous flow of learning is truly extraordinary.”
The significance of this moment extends beyond Bulgari. As Toni Belloni, President of LVMH Italy, remarked, “Even in this time of global uncertainty, we reaffirm our confidence in the medium- and long-term growth of the luxury market.” With 66 workshops and two Italian brands—Loro Piana and Fendi—celebrating their centennials this year, LVMH is investing deeply in Italian excellence.
The new Bulgari manufacture is more than a triumph of architecture and innovation—it’s a powerful statement about the future of luxury, where craftsmanship, culture, and sustainability intersect. In the rolling hills of Valenza, a new chapter for Bulgari—and for fine jewelry—is just beginning.
