A convergence of two eminent marques with a shared legacy in opulent performance, resulting in a wholly tailored interior for a mutual client
(Crewe, 09 November 2023) Bentley Motors and Contest Yachts have fashioned a bespoke Bentley yacht interior for a mutual private client aboard the newly reimagined 20-meter Contest 67CS – an ode to finesse, distinction, subdued luxury, and tradition.
After touring its Crewe Factory, Bentley took on the task of crafting the custom interior. The specialized Bentley design ensemble, renowned for its prowess in crafting interiors for the Continental GT and Bentayga, embraced the formidable challenge and devised an entirely bespoke interior proposition rooted in the materials and methodologies employed in Bentley vehicles.
The Contest 67CS now paves the path for a fully synchronized Bentley automotive and yacht interior, presenting novel bespoke prospects for owners to revel in both brands’ shared ethos and legacy in opulent performance and lifestyle.
Bentley collaborated closely with Contest Yachts’ design team to fashion the distinctive interior – a stimulating endeavor that stretched the creative horizons of its artisans. We used 3D printing to assess component feasibility, crafting mock-ups of items like the sofa before installation to ensure precise finishes and quality standards. “Bentley meticulously arranged diamond-quilted hides throughout the vessel’s interior, customizing every detail to match the client’s preferences. We applied hand cross-stitching, used in Bentley steering wheels, throughout.
Bentley Home furnishings take center stage, including the Malvern Chair – a homage to the geometries of Bentley automobiles. Moreover, bespoke designs were tailored for the new Contest, encompassing a personalized bar and vanity unit. Contest Yacht’s Captain’s chair and ‘Egg’ table underwent bespoke trimming by Bentley. The meticulously handcrafted sofa at Bentley’s engineering facility was impeccably finished in Bentley trim.
“Contest CEO Arjen Conijn is excited about our collaboration with Bentley Motors, introducing fully harmonized automotive and yacht interiors to our repertoire. “Previously, for a fan of both Contest and Bentley brands, we styled and fabricated a unique exemplar of our Contest 59CS. However, this novel arrangement elevates our collaboration to a whole new echelon, presenting the possibility of an additional dedicated line of Bentley-featured Contest Yachts. We share myriad convictions and aspirations, rendering the amalgamation of our two illustrious ranges of prestigious luxury yachts and automobiles wholly logical.”
“Yacht interiors, akin to those of automobiles, demand exactitude and precision in detail. Our design teams faced a challenge in adapting artisanal skills to aquatic interiors, but we’re thrilled with the outcome. The final product stands as a testament to the extraordinary talent and dexterity of our craftsmen and craftswomen, who rose to the occasion and pushed the boundaries of what is achievable. It has been a privilege to collaborate with the Contest Team – we not only share a storied legacy in performance and luxury but also an impetus to incessantly innovate, striving to furnish cleaner, more sustainable efficiencies in our practices and outputs,” states Dr. Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors.
