(Crewe, 18th March 2024) Bentley Motors heralds the commencement of the third installment of its Extraordinary Women mentorship scheme. Engineered to instigate and cultivate the imminent era of female leadership, this year, the initiative shall engage students, universities, and inspirational female Trailblazers from the United Kingdom and Qatar.
The remarkable Female mentorship initiative is coordinated by the Universities of Bath, Loughborough, Warwick, and Manchester Metropolitan in the United Kingdom and the University of Doha for Science in Technology in Qatar.
The initiative targets explicitly female students specializing in engineering, design, technology, and commerce and constitutes a part of Bentley’s broader commitment to diversity and inclusivity, as delineated in its Beyond100 strategy. It was conceived and tailored to encourage women to explore a myriad of career trajectories within the STEM and automotive domains.
Eight students from the United Kingdom and Qatar will be cherry-picked to embark on the program, which entails personalized mentorship by handpicked, high-achieving women—the inspirational Trailblazers—and will climax in a week-long sojourn to Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England, in June.
The essence of the program lies in accentuating the array of opportunities available for women. Previous cohorts of students in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have had the privilege of interacting with Trailblazers such as Amanda Levete, a Stirling Prize-winning architect bestowed with a CBE for her architectural contributions, Mishaal Ashemimry from Saudi Arabia, the first female aerospace engineer in the Gulf region, and Amna Al Hashemi, an Emirati luminary and serial entrepreneur.
This year, Sara Davies MBE will join the ranks of pioneering women and mentor a student from the United Kingdom. The founder and proprietor of Crafter’s Companion, a crafting supplies enterprise employing over 150 individuals globally, inspires women worldwide. Sara gained prominence for her stint on the BBC One program Dragons’ Den as the show’s youngest female investor ever and recently featured on BBC One on the 15th of March in Snow Going Back: Comic Relief vs. The Arctic, where she embarked on an extraordinary trek in the Arctic Circle for Comic Relief.
She remarked: “I am enthralled by Bentley’s commendable endeavor in celebrating the accomplishments of female talent and, more significantly, bolstering the development of exceptional young females through their Extraordinary Woman initiative. I am eager to commence and meet the student whom I shall personally mentor.”
Bentley’s Board Member for Human Resources, Karen Lange, remarked: “It fills us with pride and inspiration at Bentley to witness the remarkable Female program gaining momentum as it enters its third year and expands to encompass a fourth country. Our objective for this remarkable initiative has been to forge a legacy for young women and bolster the success of the subsequent generation of future leaders, and with former participants progressing to undertake internships with Bentley, we are already witnessing the positive ripple effect it is generating.”
The extraordinary women’s program is one of several initiatives by Bentley Motors to champion gender parity, empower women globally, and nurture inclusivity. As part of its Beyond100 strategy, Bentley aspires to evolve into the most diverse luxury car company, with a workforce as diverse as its vehicles.
