Prolific bee endeavor forms part of Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy
(Crewe, 12 December 2023) Connoisseur of sweet delights, Winnie the Pooh, once opined: ‘The sole entity superior to honey is more honey.’ A.A. Milne’s fictional character would assuredly have welcomed today’s declaration of a distinctive Ebony Edition Label honey, commemorating the fifth honey harvest of the remarkable ‘Bentley Bees.
The Centre of Excellence for Honey Production is situated at Bentley headquarters in Crewe and underwent expansion earlier this year to accommodate 17 colonies, sheltering more than one million bees. This summer, slightly over 500 jars of delectable Ebony Edition Label honey were amassed from the two eldest colonies, initially installed at the Pyms Lane establishment in 2019.
In addition to the mouth-watering Ebony Edition Label, 1,000 jars of appetizing ‘conventional’ honey were amassed from the remaining 15 colonies. Bentley’s internal design squad has commemorated the occasion by rebranding both jars with distinctive labeling.
Andreas Lehe, Board Member for Manufacturing at Bentley Motors, remarked:
“Our colony of industrious worker bees has demonstrated heightened productivity at the Centre of Excellence for Honey Production. This captivating endeavor underscores the extensive scope of Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy, as we concentrate on augmenting the environmental sustainability of the Pyms Lane facility. Furthermore, it aligns with the company’s aspiration to emerge as frontrunners in sustainable luxury mobility.”
Sebastian Benndorf, Director of Production Planning at Bentley Motors, appended: “The delectable honey is exceedingly exclusive and not commercially available; instead, it is presented at corporate gatherings, client visits, and philanthropic endeavors, alongside Colleague Reward and Recognition programs and contests. We perceive it as a stimulating approach to instigate discussions about the significance of ecology and the contributions of pollinators.”
