Robb Report has added the Morgan Supersport and Superformance Cobra 427 S/C MKIII to its 2027 Car of the Year competition, expanding a lineup that already features some of the most distinctive vehicles in the luxury automotive market.
The 24th edition of the annual event is scheduled for November 8–14 at the Concours Club, a private racetrack outside Miami. The competition brings together vehicles with different approaches to engineering, design and performance, giving judges an opportunity to evaluate their capabilities behind the wheel.
The two latest additions join contenders including the Aston Martin Valhalla, Lamborghini Temerario and Cadillac Celestiq, alongside models from Bentley, Mercedes-Maybach, BMW and Rolls-Royce.

Founded in 1909, Morgan Motor Company is known for its handcrafted sports cars, which combine traditional British coachbuilding with contemporary engineering. The company has retained its distinctive design philosophy across generations, incorporating materials such as ash, aluminum and leather into its vehicles.
Morgan’s Plus Four was previously recognized as the Best Sports Car at Robb Report’s Car of the Year U.K. competition in 2025. Now, the manufacturer is bringing its flagship Supersport to the American market.
The roadster made its U.S. debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week in August. Its design draws on classic automotive styling, while its platform, powertrain and interior amenities reflect modern technology.
The Supersport is built around a bonded-aluminum platform weighing approximately 225 pounds. Power comes from a BMW B46 TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine producing 251 horsepower, paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
With a curb weight of approximately 2,520 pounds, the roadster emphasizes agility and driver engagement rather than sheer power. Buyers can choose between a removable composite hardtop and a retractable mohair soft top.
Its blend of retro-inspired styling and contemporary performance makes the Supersport a distinctive addition to this year’s competition.

The Superformance Cobra 427 S/C MKIII offers a different kind of appeal, drawing on the legacy of Carroll Shelby’s original Cobra, first introduced in 1962.
Superformance’s entry is a Shelby-licensed continuation of the 1965 Cobra 427 Sport-Competition MKIII. Only 31 examples of the original model were produced in street-legal form, contributing to its place in sports-car history.
Superformance is considering two vehicles for the competition, with the final selection yet to be confirmed.
One option, chassis No. SPO3913, features a 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine capable of revving to 8,500 rpm and rides on 18-inch wheels.
The alternative, chassis No. SPO3946, is equipped with a 408-cubic-inch, or 6.6-liter, V-8 engine paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. This version sits on 15-inch wheels, offering a configuration closer to the traditional motorsport experience associated with the Cobra.
Whichever car is selected, its combination of classic proportions and V-8 power is expected to provide a markedly different driving experience from the modern luxury and performance vehicles competing alongside it.
